Registry Overview
Jersey provides a national yacht registration system for
pleasure and commercial vessels under 400 gross tons. It is a member of the British Red Ensign
Group which is administered by the British
Registrar of Ships in Jersey.
This island country, officially the Bailiwick of Jersey, is a
self-governing British Crown Dependency located near the coast of north-west France.

The Jersey yacht and ship registry office is located in St Helier.
Registration Requirements
All types of yachts under 400 gross tons will qualify for the Jersey yacht registry, subject to certain conditions.
Individuals or companies of the Commonwealth, EU, British Isles, Crown Dependencies or Overseas Territories will qualify as
owners for Jersey registered vessels.
Recording Methods
Jersey has provisions for recording mortgages against registered vessels. However this does not apply to those
flagged under the Small Ships Register which is available to Jersey residents owning vessels under 79 feet. Mortgages are administered by the British Registrar of Ships.
